The problem

Despite strong Google rankings, Cheriton Homecare’s website struggled to meet their business needs. Their site had been built using an outdated page builder, resulting in poor responsiveness and visual appeal on many modern devices, specifically smartphones. With around 60% of online content in the UK accessed on mobile phones, ensuring a smooth and straightforward mobile experience is essential. Additionally, their existing site featured complex and unintuitive application and reference forms, frustrating both mobile and desktop users and leading to a large number of drop-offs.

The solution

At Greyhound Studio, we saw Cheriton Homecare’s issues as an opportunity. Rather than simply rebuilding their pages in an updated builder using existing resources, we worked with their management team to identify their target customers, brand identity, and key branding materials. Armed with a better understanding of who they’re trying to reach, we developed a series of wireframes for approval, followed up with high-fidelity design drafts. 

After receiving our client’s approval, we rebuilt their site in Elementor, giving us granular control over responsiveness. We included 5 breakpoints for devices ranging from small mobile phones to extra-large desktop monitors to ensure a smooth and satisfying experience for visitors, regardless of device.

To complement the updated page design, we also sourced suitable images that visually convey our client’s core services. Although it may seem simple, selecting on-brand images that convey the right message without feeling like stock photography is a skill honed over years.

To help users better interact with the site and reduce the number of drop-offs who leave it when interacting with their various forms, we switched to Gravity Forms. Due to the nature of Cheriton’s industry and the type of information they have to collect, we custom-coded their forms with unique fields, restyled them for simplicity, and split them into separate pages for ease of use. 

Today, we continue to support Cheriton Homecare with ongoing web support and maintenance, regularly updating the site and plugins to ensure optimal performance, uploading of new content, ease of use, and compliance with best practices for SEO.
